What is the Berlin WelcomeCard?

The card consists of two components:

1. Ticket for one of the WelcomeCard variants
2. CityGuide

There are two ways to buy the Berlin WelcomeCard:

1. Purchase as an online ticket in the form of a voucher via our website (see image)
2. Purchase as a print ticket on site from a ticket machine or at a sales outlet

The WelcomeCard CityGuide is a travel guide with a city map. It is bilingual, German and English. In it you will find all the information about the attractions. The guide also contains tour suggestions for a personalised tour of the city and other helpful tips about Berlin.

The latest version of the guide is also available as a free download from visitBerlin. The PDF file also contains addresses where you can obtain the CityGuide in paper form.

The WelcomeCard CityGuide is included with every purchase of the Berlin WelcomeCard. One CityGuide is sufficient for a group of 4 people. An additional CityGuide is required for each additional person.

Visitors must be able to present both at the entrance:

1. The Ticket
2. The CityGuide

Only if both are available is the visitor entitled to the respective reductions and discounts. All current discount partners are listed in the CityGuide. You can find out in detail how high the discount is with the individual providers. For example, if you use the service for 48 hours, you can save around € 32 on average.

Only if you have purchased the Berlin WelcomeCard Museum Island will you receive free admission to the museums on Museum Island Berlin once a day.

This does not apply to special exhibitions.

Of course, you can only use the Berlin WelcomeCard Museum Island within the period of validity. With the Berlin WelcomeCard Museum Island you can visit the museums on Museum Island on a maximum of three consecutive days.

Online tickets purchased via these pages do not need to be validated before first use. This is because the validity period is noted on the online ticket.

For tickets for 4 days, 5 days or 6 days, the Berlin WelcomeCard expires at midnight on the last day of validity.

With all variants of the Berlin WelcomeCard that include public transport, any number of children up to the age of 6 can travel free of charge.

In addition, up to 3 children between the ages of 6 and 14 can travel free of charge on the ticket of the accompanying adult.

Prams, luggage and a dog can also be taken on buses and trains free of charge. For each additional dog, a ticket for the reduced fare must be purchased.

A bicycle is not included. You must purchase a bicycle ticket for this.

Fare zones A and B cover the entire Berlin city area. The outer boundary of sub-area B is largely identical to the city boundary.

Berlin-Brandenburg Airport (BER) is located in the Berlin C fare zone. 
Visitors arriving via Berlin-Brandenburg BER Airport therefore need the Berlin WelcomeCard for the ABC fare zone in order to travel to the city centre.

The Berlin C fare zone extends up to a distance of 10 to 15 kilometres into the surrounding area, measured from the aforementioned city limits.

Excursion and special lines and journeys with Deutsche Bahn are excluded from the scope of validity.

Unfortunately, it is not possible to extend the Berlin WelcomeCard AB with a ticket for the Berlin C fare zone.

To travel to Potsdam or Sachsenhausen, you need the Berlin WelcomeCard for the ABC fare zone.

Unfortunately, there is no ticket that would extend the Berlin WelcomeCard AB for the Berlin C fare zone.

The hop-on hop-off bus can only be used with the Berlin WelcomeCard all inclusive.

Please note: The use of the hop-on hop-off bus is limited to one day during the period of use of the ticket!
